Rallids Rally will take place from 1 to the 15 October in Colombia, where different groups will find and register individuals from 30 Colombian species of Rallidae. The 15 October is the day to count Rallids in the Valle del Cauca.
We visited 15 wetlands located on the flat part of the geographical Cauca River Valley (central and southern department of Valle del Cauca and northern). In total they participated 28 people, in which members of our organization and volunteers are interested. During the conference they were counted 3203 waterbird individuals belonging to 46 species, which it meant the third lowest abundance in recent 10 years old.
The Focal Species initiative starts this second semester 2016 with the project of "participatory development of conservation plans for four species globally threatened in the conservation corridor Umbrella-Munchique Tropical Andes of Colombia", a process that promises to be a big step in the conservation of four endangered bird species.
